Visible Cloaks, Incidental Music & Explorateur/RARE AIR at Q [FREE]
Feb 9 all-day

RARE AIR kicks off the new year by celebrating two years of immersive sights and sounds at Q Nightclub. Marking the occasion will be a live performance by Portland duo VISIBLE CLOAKS, whose work investigates both inverted pop structures and long-form collage in a fluid mix, often with heavily-modulated voice, wave-table ambient clouds, and abstracted samples.

Joining Rare Air host and resident EXPLORATEUR on the decks are INCIDENTAL MUSIC, a DJ duo also from Portland, whose fourth-world explorations include musique concrete, early recordings of American computer music, and modern digital synthesis. Rare Air resident artist I WANT YOU (Christian Petersen) sets the mood with extraordinary psychedelic visuals.

Rare Air invites you to bring blankets and yoga mats to help you get comfortable for this special installment. No cover. #rareairseattle

Alex Morph at Box House
Feb 12 all-day

SEATTLE TRANCE ALLIANCE presents: I ♥ TRANCE, a valentines day party

Alex Morph
VANDIT/ARMADA/YORK ARTISTS MANAGMENT
soundcloud.com/alexmorph

As one of the leading DJs/producers in the global dance music scene, Alex M.O.R.P.H.’s popularity is on the rise like never before! With outstanding releases like “An Angel’s Love”, “Life Less Ordinary” or “Sunset Boulevard” and remixes/co-ops with and for artists like Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, Within Temptation, Faithless, Gareth Emery, Dash Berlin, Protoculture and many more, he’s always one step ahead in quality and energetic like noone else!

Through various producer aliases, Alex M.O.R.P.H. was able to establish and redefine himself and his sound again and again, delivering a big palette of highly respected quality productions and remixes over the years. One of his first huge impacts on the dance floors was the 2007 mega-smasher ‘Life Less Ordinary’ together with the famous Dutch duo Rank 1, which resulted in a tremendous hype all over the world and burned the name Alex M.O.R.P.H. into the trance world map once and for all. Reason enough for Paul van Dyk to lock up Alex in his studio, producing 2 van Dyk/M.O.R.P.H. collaborations for PvD’s 2007 hit album ‘In Between’. Together with Armin van Buuren and Ana Criado, he created the Triple A project, with the beautiful ‘Winter Stayed’ as a result. Numerous of his singles and co-ops caused a buzz in the scene; ‘Turn It On’, ‘Unification’, ‘New Harvest’, ‘I Love Trance’ and his biggest anthem to date ‘An Angel’s Love’ underline the ever rising career of this exceptional artist.

As a DJ, Alex M.O.R.P.H. knows exactly how to keep the crowd going and how to interact with his fans. His experience is truly impressive, with past and upcoming gigs at all major club events and world leading festivals like A State Of Trance, Electronic Family Festival, Mayday, Gatecrasher, Nature One, Soundtropolis, Cream Ibiza, Stadium of Sound, and many, many more… Alex is also the co-founder & co-host of the global radio & event concept HeavensGate. Together with his longtime partner Woody van Eyden (as a B2B DJ team they were voted into the DJ Mag Top100 of 2008!), they present their weekly radio show on a network of over 50 high profile radio stations around the world and gain more and more fans rapidly. Their own HeavensGate events (Boat Party, several Loveparade floats and official afterparties, HeavensGate happenings in Malaysia, Scotland, Ibiza and other hotspots) are an important indicator of the growing popularity and fan base.

With a massive production list and an amount of more than 120 remixes, Mr. M.O.R.P.H. is in demand more than ever, producing and remixing with and for other artists like Faithless,
Armin van Buuren and Dash Berlin, which proves that Alex M.O.R.P.H. needs sleepless nights and rush full days to fulfill his engagement to the scene. His sound and remix-skills can be heard on the ‘Hands On Armada’ compilation, on which Alex takes over 7 years of Armada classics and makes them completely fit for today’s clubs. In 2009, as he entered the DJ Mag Top100 again, it was finally time to unleash his highly awaited debut artist album ‘Purple Audio’ which included club smashers like ‘Sunset Boulevard’, ‘Photograph’ and ‘Purple Audio’. The album resulted in an overwhelming success and the ‘Purple Audio Worldtour’ went really fantastic. The remixed version of his debut album, called ‘Purple Audio Reloaded’, featuring remixes of the original album tracks by high-profile artists like Menno de Jong, Estiva, Signum, Woody van Eyden and many more found its way to the record stores in the mid of 2010.

Touring the world and producing his album kept Alex busy over the years, and in the summer of 2012, the charismatic DJ and producer proudly presented the long-awaited follow-up to his debut album ‘Purple Audio’. Included 17 originals it was ‘Prime Mover’ that marked another successful year for the German master, showing all facades of his palette of sounds and unleashed more M.O.R.P.H., collaborating with the likes of Protoculture, Woody van Eyden, Claudia Cazacu and singers Christian Burns, Sylvia Tosun, Tiff Lacey and many more. ‘Prime Mover’ was Alex M.O.R.P.H.’s audio translation of taking the next step. And it was a big one, followed by a massive ‘Prime Mover’ remix album including interpretations by artists like Solarstone, Maarten de Jong, Shogun and many more!

USC Events & Foundation Nightclub Present Resonate Fridays: Dzeko & Torres

It comes down to one thing: EDM is the ultimate party music. High-energy beats combine with funk-fueled basslines to create the perfect soundtrack for an unforgettable night out. Friday nights in Belltown are about to be turned up to 11, so prepare to walk away each week saying one thing: “Best. Night. Ever.”

About DZEKO & TORRES:
dzekoandtorres.com

From the front row of a Tiësto show to a coveted spot on the Dutch megastar’s management roster, the story of Dzeko & Torres is equal parts dream and determination. The Canadian duo initially found each other through an online forum for Toronto club events. At the time, Luis (Torres) was working as a photographer and graphic designer, and Julian (Dzeko) as an event promoter. The two became fast friends and began DJing around the city’s club circuit and producing together on borrowed studio time while juggling part-time jobs. Their first electronic dance music moment of reckoning came at that Tiësto show, which provided a clarion call to pursue their musical passions full-time. “Tiësto was our main influence and inspiration,” says Dzeko. “After we saw him at that show and playing on that scale, we knew we were interested in doing that too.”

The co-producers got serious about their studio work, releasing a highly regarded remix of Jus Jack’s “Can’t Wait” featuring Black Dog. The track caught the attention of Tiësto, who featured it on his Club Life podcast in 2011. For the two Canadian kids who had come up idolizing the artist, Tiësto’s support provided a musical springboard that encouraged them to continue chasing their dance music ambitions. “We weren’t the best producers at the time, but we knew we were doing something right to have him support our stuff,” says Dzeko. “We decided then and there to give this thing a shot as a profession.”

2014 found the duo capitalizing on their considerable potential. After teaming up with Tiësto for his album cut “Can’t Forget” and a marquee remix of John Martin’s “Anywhere For You,” Dzeko & Torres consistently scaled the Beatport charts with originals like “For You” (No. 1 Progressive House), collaborations with Borgeous and MOTi, and widely supported remixes of ZHU’s “Faded” and ”ODESZA’s “All We Need” (No. 1 Beatport Pulse). Their momentum led to new bookings at major festivals like EDC Las Vegas, as well as a formative world tour that took them to India, Indonesia, Paraguay, Argentina, Chile, Switzerland, Czech, and Scotland. With a slew of forthcoming originals including a collaboration with KSHMR and remixes for top talent like Kygo on deck, 2015 is shaping out to be the team’s tipping point towards stardom.

Penguin Prison at the Crocodile
Feb 12 all-day

The Crocodile presents PENGUIN PRISON
penguinprison.com
soundcloud.com/penguin-prison

On Lost In New York, the new full-length album from producer/singer-songwriter/DJ Penguin Prison (aka Christopher Glover) the hustle and bustle of the city comes alive. From the vintage glam of NYC’s storied disco heyday, all the way through to the bohemian rhapsody of modern Brooklyn, Lost In New York is a cultural time-capsule dedicated to the greatest city on the planet as told via Glover’s intimate storytelling and personal brand of electropop.

It wasn’t until Penguin Prison was born in 2009 that Glover began to make a name for himself, with a particular penchant for remixing. He soon became a go-to source in the remix circuit, offering distinctive reworks at a time when remixes were too often falling victim to the cookie cutter format. To date, he’s produced immaculate, high-profile remixes for the likes of Lana Del Rey, Kylie Minogue, Ellie Goulding, Imagine Dragons, Maroon 5, and Miike Snow, just to name a few recent collaborations.

Glover made the final jump into Penguin Prison as its own artist project with his self-titled debut album released on Downtown Records (US)/Stranger Records (UK). Penguin Prison introduced the world to Glover’s songwriting prowess via catchy hooks and classic pop choruses. It was on this album that Glover began to familiarize himself with and expand on the triple-duty roles of producer, performer and songwriter. On Lost In New York, his maturity in these roles shows.

It’s obvious that Glover finds his home in the studio, first and foremost. But onstage, he reaches fever pitch level. He brings Penguin Prison to life through a full live band composed of Glover on guitar and vocals joined by a live drummer, bass player and keyboard player. This lively transition from studio to stage has allowed the Penguin Prison quartet prominent performances across many of today’s biggest music festivals and stages, including Bonnaroo, Governors Ball, Fun Fun Fun Fest, TomorrowWorld, Made In America and many more across North and South America and Europe. The next movement in the Penguin Prison framework, Lost In New York is where Glover finds himself through new and old inspirations and reaches a new artistic phase.

Autograf/FWD at Q

Q Nightclub presents FWD Wednesdays: FWD is every Wednesday at Q Nightclub, bringing you top flight music by emerging artists from all over the world.

AUTOGRAF
soundcloud.com/autografmusic

Before the music, there was Future Soup. This was the first creation by Autograf, an eight-foot 500-pound sculpture. It’s an obsession with the Future and the limitless possibilities it holds. What started out as a desire to “make art,” turned into a curiosity to make music. This curiosity has set the Hype Machine charts ablaze hitting either the #1 or #2 spot five times for Autograf’s debut remixes of Marvin Gaye, Pharrell / Daft Punk, Stevie Wonder, French Horn Rebellion & Savoir Adore. In a short period of time, Autograf has gained critical acclaim in the blogosphere being named to Indie Shuffle’s annual “Best Remixes” award along with numerous features on ThisSongIsSick, Thump/Vice, Dancing Astronaut, Gotta Dance Dirty, Earmilk and more. With BBC Radio 1 airtime, and over 2 million Soundcloud plays and growing. For our live shows, we want to create a unique experience for the audience that goes beyond the DJ booth. For our DJ sets, perhaps we’ll install our sculptures to make a sort of dance party meets art installation. There’s just so much we want to do.

STRFKR & Com Truise at Neumos
Feb 18 all-day

Neumos presents STRFKR + Com Truise with special guests

About STRFKR: Since the release of their 2008 debut album, STRFKR have relentlessly toured across the globe, delivering to their fans a guaranteed non-stop dance party. With three proper albums and another to come in 2016, the band has a wealth of dance party hits at their disposal and their career-spanning live set is a sweat drenched laser soaked affair highlighted by their home made light show. STRFKR began as a vehicle for Josh Hodges songwriting but quickly transformed into a full-fledged band with members Shawn Glassford and Keil Corcoran.

Wave 1 is the first new transmission the world has received from producer Seth Haley since his gloriously futuristic debut album Galactic Melt. That album cataloged the genesis and evolution of Haley’s alter ego Com Truise — the world’s first synthetic/robotic astronaut, as Haley described him — and this EP continues the character’s journey into the outer reaches of the musical multiverse. In the process, it also builds on Haley’s signature production style, one that’s rooted in classic sci-fi sounds and analogue textures but nevertheless manages to sound utterly contemporary.

Yet as Treasure Fingers, he’s found a way to merge his diverse influences and deep history into a signature sound, packed with intricate basslines, chopped-up, gritty synth melodies, and party-ready drum breaks.

LANDIS LAPACE
soundcloud.com/landislapace

Landis LaPace, an 18-year-old wunderkind, entered into the realm of production three years ago. His early roots in music stretch back to his childhood when he started drumming on a toy kit in his garage at the age of 3. A toy kit progressed to a full-blown Tama drum kit, with which he became an avid drummer. At the age of 13 he was listening to a variety of music from Dubstep to Trance, but “One” by Swedish House Mafia exposed his love of Progressive/Electro House as well as House/Tech House. From there he started making music. He continued making tracks of various genre’s while developing and incorporating his own style and thumbprint on his music, and still looks for anything with funk and soul for inspiration.

Biography: Moby was one of the most controversial figures in techno music, alternately praised for bringing a face to the notoriously anonymous electronic genre and scorned by hordes of techno artists and fans for diluting and trivializing the form. In either case, Moby was one of the most important dance music figures of the early ’90s, helping bring the music to a mainstream audience both in England and in America.

Skeptical/DnB TUESDAYS at the Baltic Room
Feb 23 all-day

DNB Tuesdays: Bringing you over 17 dedicated years of Drum and Bass artists, and local talent in Seattle!

SKEPTICAL
Exit // Metalheadz // Samurai // Commercial Suicide

As a DJ and producer whose natural passion for music in all its forms eventually spilled over into a full blown production habit, Skeptical has been responsible for some of the most damaging yet delicate tracks occupying the realms of current drum & bass. Critically featured releases have been coming thick and fast on a range of the biggest labels in the genre. From the deadly Blue Eyes EP on the taste-driven label that is Ingredients Records, to a slew of impeccable releases on highly esteemed imprints such as Exit Records, Dispatch, Renegade Hardware, and with forthcoming releases due on Metalheadz, Soul:r, Commercial Suicide & Samurai, Skeptical has smashed it out for almost every dark drum & bass label worth its salt.

And of course as one third of the team behind ‘Marka’ – the undisputed drum & bass champion track of 2011, Skeptical has attained a legendary status amongst the ranks of D&B producers. ‘Marka’ was a tour de force of ominous, intensely atmospheric production that goes off on the dance floor. Skeptical is a producer who can stimulate your cerebrum with his innovative bass structures and put an exit wound in your brain with destructive DJ sets that have made him a Renegade Hardware favourite. Only the biggest of things are to be expected from a producer who has only just begun to give the drum & bass public a tantalising idea of his musical mettle.

About GTA:
death2genres.com
soundcloud.com/wearegta

Thirty push-ups and a shot of tequila each: that’s all the preparation Julio Mejia and Matt Toth need to throw down a killer set, to turn from laid-back, unassuming 24-year-olds into the scene-stealing DJ and production duo GTA.

While their warm-ups are routine, Mejia and Toth’s performances are anything but. GTA sets are musical joyrides with the guys at the wheel, as they speed from trap and hip-hop into booming electro, take unexpected detours with rock and R&B, and screech to a halt for
massive bass drops. Despite GTA’s wild, unpredictable sets, everything the duo does – both on stage and in the studio – is unified by a simple mission statement: death to genres.

Feb 27 all-day

The Bassment, Trapped Productions & Neumos present Sluggo & Helicopter Showdown @ Nuemos!

Sluggo (Phoenix, AZ)
soundcloud.com/sluggodubstep

Electronic dance music has gotten too safe. Somebody needs to come in and shake things up before the genre becomes swallowed up in a haze of corporate machinations and twirling glow sticks. Sluggo is the antihero EDM desperately calls for. The Phoenix-based artist, producer, and C.E.O. of Ultragore Recordings makes violent, visceral, and vicious dubstep; embracing everything from heavy metal to first person shooters, he taps into a guttural edge and pulls out dark grooves so staggering you can’t help but move. With knives sharpened and guns blazing, Sluggo stands on the cusp of another electronic revolution.

Helicopter Showdown (San Francisco, CA)
soundcloud.com/helicoptershowdown

Bay Area production force known as Helicopter Showdown has earned the reputation in the underground bass music culture as “Wu Tang” of Dubstep. These West coast bass monsters have been turning heads and crashing parties worldwide with their unique blend of heavy dubstep, melodic electro house, and thundering trap. Having dominated the Bay Area bass music scene over the past several years, HS has been called out of their homeland to perform and curate events all over the North America in cities such as New York, Detroit, Baltimore, Los Angeles, Denver, Houston, Montreal, and many in between. Supported by such highly respected artists as Rusko, Borgore, Mt. Eden, Calvertron, Skism, Downlink, and Reid Speed amongst others, their music is quickly being recognized everywhere from the most distinguished UK dubstep pioneers to the smaller pockets of bassheads in middle USA.

Papadosio & SaQi at the Showbox Market
Feb 27 all-day

Showbox presents

Papadosio – Act II Tour
papadosio.com
soundcloud.com/papadosio

Mesmerizing, spellbinding and genre-defying: With their fourth full-length studio release Extras In A Movie, Papadosio reveals a striking cinematic cornucopia of sounds: orchestral, electronic, organic, acoustic, psychedelic and celestial. The 16 selections that comprise the song cycle are concise and structured – launch pads for the improvisational excursions that are a hallmark of the band’s celebrated concert performances. “The writing process was a challenge for us, to see if we could integrate some songs that were shorter than five minutes,” notes the band. They envisioned the title Extras In A Movie as a concept connected to themes of interpersonal interactions and relationships.

Hitting virtually all major and secondary U.S. music locales and select festivals across North America, Papadosio tours on a massive scale but maintains a close intimacy with their fans. With the new project they are expanding their collective stylistic palette. “We like to have a lot of colors,” they explain. “We’re starting to push that envelope in the way we want to go – to give the people who are at the shows more of a variety of emotions. We don’t have filters. We record what’s happening.” Originally from the creative collegiate hotbed of Athens, Ohio, the band is now centered in Asheville, North Carolina. Not that they are homebodies as they clarify. “For the past five or six years we’ve done maybe 150 dates a year and have been gone for 200 days. We were cutting back a little, but now with the new project the number of shows is about to go way back up.”

Extras In A Movie balances Papadosio’s celestial sonic ambience with an organic edge and multiple guitars, both electric and acoustic. “A lot more guitar in general,” they say. “ That’s something new with this record.” What also distinguishes the new music is the prominence of their vocals. Extras In A Movie opens with a dense, harmonic introduction titled “The Last Leaf” and across the span of songs emerges subliminal echoes of prog-rock forefathers like Jethro Tull, Yes and Genesis. Trippy titles abound: “Gazing the Great Oscillator,” “Moon Entendre,” Anima Mundi.” Noting that these designations often come late in the creative process, if the band can’t find a suitable name, they might invent a word. “Obove” is such a creation. In the lexicon of Papadosio it is a term that references “an over arcing emotion.”

While the band gleefully dismisses observations on their collective intellect, an exegesis of their themes indicates complex underpinnings. A new song, “Therian” was inspired by archeological cave paintings depicting creatures that are half-beast and half human. “Bypass Default” is a treatise on being nagged by all of the earth’s problems, and is appropriately discordant. “The Wrong Nostalgia” includes a take on modern radio with the line “Who sold these assholes on the airwaves?” — lyrics with an edge and a bite.

It is the band’s wish that Extras In A Movie will enchant loyal fans and introduce new audiences to the Papadosio universe. “Our intention is to give people music that can be themes in their lives so they can connect to the music. To provide them with a place to hang out so they don’t feel weird in what they are thinking — to give their brains and their hearts a home.” Extras In A Movie, Papadosio’s self-produced fourth full-length studio album, will be self released October 2, 2015

USC Events & Foundation Nightclub Present Progression Saturdays: Vinai

Progression is change. Progression is Different. Progression is the forward evolution of music.

About Vinai:
facebook.com/vinai.official
soundcloud.com/wearevinai

VINAI is an electronic music group formed in 2011 by Italian producers Alessandro Vinai and Andrea Vinai. As a duo, they have produced a number of successful EDM songs. Their success began with the publication of the single “Raveology” in January 2014 with fellow pioneers of the copy-paste production technique DVBBS on EDM conveyor belt, Spinnin’ Records.

Their production style has been considered controversial by many due to the accusation of recycling composition, structure and synth presets from previous tracks. Whilst never openly admitting to this, they inadvertently revealed their apathetic production style in a tweet from April 23rd 2015. “Crazy day, in 1 hour we finished 50% of a new original mix!!!”

From a very young age, Caleb Cornett found himself heavily influenced by music. Born and raised in a small town in eastern “bluegrass” Kentucky, Cornett spent much of his childhood banging on his small keyboard and strumming his first notes on guitar. It was then that he realized he had found his niche – his own form of self-expression. Making a name for himself remixing a diverse array of artists including Metric, Chromeo, Apparat, Treasure Fingers and The Beach Boys – as well as sharing the stage with Diplo, Mr.Oizo and Aoki – On his debut full length LP, Amtrac showcases his ability as a producer, songwriter, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. Since its release in September, Amtrac’s live show and dj sets have drawn thousands of fans across the United States and beyond.

GoldLink & Sango at Neumos
Mar 5 all-day

Neumos & Capitol Hill Block Party Present:
GoldLink x Sango with Special Guests

Where the intersections of the DMV collide, GoldLink is a direct product. The first time 21-year-old GoldLink picked up a mic was only three years ago in his hometown and he has no intentions of putting it down. The emcee is piloting the “Future Bounce” genre, accruing over one million plays on his Soundcloud and capturing the attention of an entire industry with this first project, The God Complex, which released in late spring of 2014.

GoldLink’s sound is densely weighted with shimmering polyrhythmic sounds, constructed with formidable producers like Kaytranada, Lakim and Louie Lastic. His sound milks nostalgic cuts of 90s hip-hop and R&B and the area’s natural go-go heritage with transcending circadian drops of EDM and Afro-Caribbean drum patterns. GoldLink’s raps are calculated, tackling them with a roller-coaster delivery, with a distinct voice and unmeasurable cadence.

With his unyielding charm, Goldlink tackles his own battles of social and cultural injustice, pursuing a relatable voice of romantic instability. Without relying on talent alone, GoldLink has studied rap’s hierarchy, building his biting flow that’s quicker than a salesman and fouler than a sailor. Citing Edgar Allan Poe, Grimes, and Pink Floyd as his main influences, GoldLink’s subject matter highlights dealing cocaine, gun-toting friends, an absent father, and the general hardship of growing up in the ghetto.

Sango is a Seattle-born, now Grand Rapids, Michigan based producer who is most known for his remixes of Aaliyah, Drake, Little Dragon, Nas, The Weeknd, and now his debut album ‘North’. He is currently signed to Los Angeles record label Soulection, and music collective AGO. At the young age of 12, Sango started producing music alongside his older brother and his friends. His work mainly focuses on hip-hop, and soul influenced beats that over the years have been able to come together as his own distinctive innovative sound.

Apart from producing, Sango is a graphic designer. He has designed all of his releases up to date, which has shown that he is more than just a producer, but an artist in his own right. He has been featured on numerous publications for his self-disclosing interviews and tracks, such as Jay-Z’s ‘Life + Times’, Fader, Drake’s OVO blog, XLR8R, Noisey, Fader, THUMP, and more.

Main Stage

XILENT – United Kingdom
xilent.com
soundcloud.com/xilent

As rises to prominence go, Xilent’s has been meteoric in the extreme. At just under two years since his debut Dubstep release ‘Choose Me II’ marked the arrival of a serious new talent, Xilent has quickly become one of the most talked about names in bass culture. With such a short period between being a relative unknown to being one of the world’s most talked about electronic producers, it’s easy to forget that it was only back in 2011 when ‘Choose Me II’ was picked up by Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1 making Xilent his ‘Next Hype’ artist with the track going on to top the Beatport Dubstep chart (remaining in the top five for over three months) and being made a finalist in the Beatport Music Award’s “Top Dubstep Track of the Year 2011″ alongside Skrillex, Feed Me, Porter Robinson and Nero. ‘Choose Me II’ has now had over 3 million plays on YouTube and will forever be remembered as the track that brought Xilent to the world’s attention and the start of his world spanning bass odyssey.

With such a landmark release, a follow up was always going to difficult, however with his 2012 releases ‘Touch Sound EP’ and ‘Ultrafunk EP’ creating waves of new fans across dance floors, online and radio alike, Xilent not only matched, but surpassed the success of ‘Choose Me II’ with Zane Lowe making ‘Beyond’ his ‘Hottest Record In The World’ and ‘Do It’ receiving Xilent’s first Radio 1 daytime spins from Fearne Cotton. With the success of his multi-genre spanning releases, Xilent has also become a much in demand remixer with everyone from Katy Perry (who personally signed off on his mix), Ellie Goulding and Ed Sheeran to Sub Focus, Hadouken! and Excision queuing up to get his take on their latest releases. His original tracks and remixes also continue to be featured heavily in the sets of the worlds biggest DJ’s with artists such as Skrillex, Knife Party and Flux Pavilion all being long term supporters.

In 2013 to kick off the year, Xilent once again threw in another curveball with the release of the highly sought after single ‘Boss Wave’ – which won him the BMA award for “Best Music Video” – once again expanding on his signature sounds with a raft of new influences, which once again shows an artist and talent at the top of his game.

With his tracks receiving over 15 million plays on YouTube and support from key tastemakers such as Annie Mac, Friction, Mistajam, Eddy Temple Morris, Crissy Criss, Andi Durrant as well as UKF, the future could not possibly be brighter for Xilent who is part of a new wave of bass culture producers taking the sounds to new levels and pushing genres out of their cliched ruts and into new bursts of creativity and vision.

In 2015 Xilent dropped his debut album, “We Are Virtual”.
The albums tracks have been topping the charts on Beatport and gaining massive support and a best album nomination at BMA.

DODGE & FUSKI Los Angles, CA
soundcloud.com/dodgeandfuski

There’s no doubt that DNF (Dodge and Fuski) are on a roll right now. With 2 consecutive Beatport number 1’s in a row, support from the biggest acts in the scene as well as YouTube behemoth UKF, and a sound that’s really starting to come in their own, they’re well on their way to becoming a major headline act with their trademark 4-deck live shows.

Their new label Disciple Recordings has also been rapidly growing since its inception earlier this year. A joint venture with Never Say Die Records, 3 of its first 8 releases saw number 1 spots on Beatport, and with artists such as Pegboard Nerds, Far Too Loud and Xilent involved, it’s showing no sign of slowing down.

2015 was one of their biggest year yet, with a new EP, big name collabs and remixes, as well as regular tours. 2016 is set to eclipse the pervious year with more releases on the way!

About Minnesota::

Minnesota is one of the most innovative and proficient electronic producers to come out of the West Coast bass music movement. His sound breaks aways from the various subgenres of EDM but holds onto origins of dubstep and hip-hop, creating a truly authentic experience for his audience. Early on in his career Minnesota said, “My goal is to make bass heavy dubstep/glitch-hop music that’ll get you dancing, but it is not the same old three note transformer step… I try to focus more on the melodic side of dubstep, and hopefully, make quality songwriting a more relevant factor in the genre.” For the past four years Minnesota has followed through on his word and designed smooth, melodic, uplifting sounds, which fans have celebrated nationwide.

Showbox presents The Floozies – The Granola Jones Tour

Just outside the jazz mecca of Kansas City springs liberal oasis Lawrence, Kansas—separated only by the waves of wheat from the epicenter of the electronic music revolution in Colorado. From Lawrence, it would logically follow that an act could rise to prominence fueled by the swing of Basie, the birth of Charlie Parker’s bebop, and the wild frontier of electronica. Born in funk and bred in the digital age, live electronic duo The Floozies have burst onto the scene at a time when the industry needed them the most.

Brothers Matt and Mark Hill share the stage just as easily as they share a musical brain. Without a setlist, and without a word between them, Matt’s guitar is in lockstep with the thud of Mark’s kick. Endless looping and production builds the raw scenery upon which palm muted chugs, searing solos, and wobbling bass paint their dazzling array of colors.

The Crocodile presents:

GOLDROOM (LIVE)
Pacific Coast Trip 2016
soundcloud.com/goldroom

Born from the simplicity of emotive choruses and lush electronic ornaments, Goldroom has transformed into a fascinating tale of modern music culture; a nostalgic romance of tropical textures and soulful rhythms. After the success of his first stand-out single ‘Fifteen’ which found itself with over 300,000 plays on Soundcloud, the top spot on the Hype Machine charts, features on Pitchfork, Spinner, MTV, and spins on BBC Radio 1, few can say that they had a debut year quite like Goldroom had. Add to that, tours across Asia, Europe, South America, Central America, Australia, and of course around the USA and Canada, has meant the good word of Goldroom is spreading hard and fast. The follow up original single, ‘Sweetness Alive’ featuring the luscious vocals of SLL (formerly Saint Lou Lou), set the stage for the recent debut of Goldroom’s live band performance at SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas in March. His astounding remixes of buzz-worthy acts such as Niki & The Dove, Atlas Genius, Alpine, Poolside, and Gigamesh, has given Goldroom even more of a household name as an established remixer, DJ and composer in his own right. Most notably, his remix for Niki & The Dove has been streamed more than 10 million times on YouTube and has been given the support of The Magician, Aeroplane, Alex Metric and more.

All of this placed Goldroom in great standing for this year’s sophomore EP, ‘Embrace’. Released worldwide in September, the first week of its release saw the title single reach record heights for Goldroom, with over half a million streams on Soundcloud and You Tube, and premiere and features on Pitchfork, MTV and Spotify. It immediately shot to number 3 on Hype Machine and no. 1 on Twitter Emerging Charts. Now, with over 2 million (and growing) plays of the EP on Soundcloud, and hitting number 2 most played on Australian national radio station, triple j, Goldroom is seeing the year off with a bang. Combining these numbers with a massive 30 date North American tour, sell-out hometown show at The Troubadour in LA, and DJ sets across London and Europe, there is reason to be on the lookout for even more from one of this year’s biggest success stories, both on the road and in the studio. With a full-length album in the works, you can rest assured that this remarkable tale will find you on a steady hunt for the dance floor.

Tydi at Foundation
Apr 2 all-day

USC Events & Foundation Nightclub Present Progression Saturdays: Tydi

Progression is change. Progression is Different. Progression is the forward evolution of music.

About Tydi:
tydi.com
soundcloud.com/tydi

Establishing himself as a successful crossover artist, tyDi’s specific brand of music has garnered mass appeal. Playing over 150 shows a year and touring globally keep him busy, but when tyDi gets into the studio, magic happens. The release of his fourth studio album, Redefined (2014), marked a major shift in the Australian producer, tyDi’s career. “After three years of writing, recording, composing and producing, this is a project that captures the absolute highest highs and the lowest lows of my personal life.” Showcasing his range as an artist, Redefined stands as an eclectic, honest, and creative reflection of who tyDi is as a producer, songwriter and DJ. “So much of my heart, blood, sweat and tears went into these 20 songs.”

A balance of raw lyrical storytelling and masterfully composed, technical music demonstrates tyDi’s attention to detail. As a conservatory trained musician, tyDi consistently draws on elements from genres beyond electronic music, utilizing organic orchestral strings, power guitar riffs or pop hooks. The album features a host of talented vocalists, including Dashboard Confessional’s Chris Carrabba, which tyDi refers to as “lifelong dream collaboration.” Appealing to global audiences, Redefined debuted in September 2014 at No. 4 on the U.S. iTunes Dance Chart and No. 5 on the Australian iTunes dance chart, while the album’s title track, ‘Redefined’ featuring Melanie Fontana garnered over 2 million Spotify streams and quickly became the Billboard No. 1 Dance Airplay record in the U.S., as well as the most played record of 2015 on SiriusXM BPM. Its success speaks to the quality of the music, pushing tyDi further into the mainstream spotlight.

No stranger to success, tyDi (born Tyson Illingworth) boasts a resume of accolades that reach far beyond sheer play counts. Beginning his musical career as a drummer in a high school rock band, the native Australian became so enamored by electronic music that he acquired a set of turntables at the age of 16 and by the age of 17, he was signed to Armin Van Buuren’s Armada label. Inspired by his love for music and learning, tyDi studied Music Technology at the prestigious Queensland Conservatorium of Music. He was recently named the Univeristy’s most outstanding graduate. Shortly after graduating, tyDi released his debut album, Look Closer (2009), which quickly claimed the No. 2 spot on the Australian dance charts. tyDi’s production and DJ prowess quickly gained international attention and he was named Australia’s No. 1 DJ for two years in a row. In 2010, tyDi won “Best Break-Through DJ” at the International Dance Music Awards (IDMA). Despite his massive success, tyDi stuck to his nature as an artist and continued to create. His aptly named second album Shooting Stars (2011) reached No. 1 on Australian, Canadian, Finnish and UK iTunes Dance charts and hit No. 4 in the U.S. On the heels of his second album’s success, tyDi signed a major publishing deal with Rondor/Universal Music and later a record deal with the notable Republic Records.

Balancing his global tour schedule and making music, tyDi finds time to write and compose his music on planes, in hotel rooms and the rare quiet moments at home. As an ode to these moments of inspiration, tyDi released a beautiful non-dance oriented album called Hotel Rooms (2013)—a compilation of music he had written in hotel rooms all over the world. Refusing to be confined by genre labels or compromise himself as an artist, tyDi created the alias Wish I Was to express himself musically without any restrictions. Despite his busy schedule, tyDi finds time to run all his own social media accounts. The humble DJ makes an effort to get on a personal level with his fans and share personal stories about his music, as well as things that he loves (like science!). He’ll even play the occasional Jenga game with fans before his shows.

Tanya Tagaq “Nanook of the North” at the Neptune
Apr 6 all-day

STG Presents Tanya Tagaq at The Neptune in Seattle on Wednesday, April 6, 2016. In Association with On the Boards.

Tanya Tagaq’s music isn’t like anything you’ve heard before. Unnerving and exquisite, Tagaq’s unique vocal expression may be rooted in Inuit throat singing but her music has as much to do with electronica, industrial and metal influences as it does with traditional culture.

This Inuk punk is known for delivering fearsome, elemental performances that are visceral and physical, heaving and breathing and alive. Her shows draw incredulous response from worldwide audiences, and Tagaq’s tours tend to jump back and forth over the map of the world. From a Mexican EDM festival to Carnegie Hall, her music and performances transcend language.

About Matthew Koma:
matthewkoma.com
soundcloud.com/matthewkoma

Beginning in 2010, Matthew Koma grew from being a relatively unknown producer to one of the most sought-after, collaborating with artists as diverse as Bruce Springsteen, LMFAO, and Hardwell. Originally into rock & roll, Koma started writing music at the tender age of nine and managed to score a publishing deal at the age of 16. His first big success was co-writing the 2012 hit single “Calling (Lose My Mind)” along with producers Sebastian Ingrosso and Alesso, and featuring Ryan Tedder. This was his first venture working alongside leading EDM artists. Following the “Calling” single, Koma went to work on the single “Sparks” with Nicky Romero and Fedde Le Grand, as well as the smash hit “Spectrum” alongside the artist Zedd.

Moderat at the Showbox Market
May 24 all-day

Moderat
moderat.fm

Intent on creating something that contrasts their own individual projects, Moderat — the trio comprised of Gernot Bronsert, Sebastian Szary (aka Modeselektor) and Sascha Ring (aka Apparat) — complete their trilogy with III.

III pairs an emotional pull with sensual imagery, creating dynamic sound and depth with sophisticated lyrics and themes as they direct their gaze inward. Apparat gives unfiltered insight into his personal take on the journey we call life – he is opening up, discussing his shadow, his fears and doubts. Modeselektor reach another level, developing an intoxicating energy with their distinct rhythmical textures.

One of the strongest aspects of Moderat is their use of electronics to achieve orchestral diversity. With III, they update the songwriting tradition with an intriguing palette, born of careful attention and skill, informed by their experiences with sounds of nearly 25 years of sub-and-club culture. These three were initially brought together by Berlin’s now legendary rave scene and with this as their common foundation, III signifies Moderat’s maturation in modern pop and mastery of the group. Moderat’s III is out April 1st on Mute/Monkeytown. The trio will take their impressive live show all over Europe and North America in support of this release.
