May 4 all-day
Groundislava/FWD at Q @ Q Nightclub | Seattle | Washington | United States

Q Nightclub presents FWD Wednesdays: FWD is every Wednesday at Q Nightclub, bringing you top flight music by emerging artists from all over the world.

GROUNDISLAVA: Emerging from the endless summers of Venice, Calif., to teaming up with Shlohmo, Purple, D33J and RL Grime to form the Wedidit crew, Jasper Patterson aka Groundislava has transformed himself from bashful video gamer to full-fledged composer. The son of Michael Patterson (who directed A-Ha’s standout music video “Take On Me” and Paula Abdul’s “Opposites Attract”), Groundislava has roots that draw from ’80s nostalgia, TV and pop culture that grow and transform into the 21st Century aesthetic of electronic music. Tapped for official remixes from the likes of Chvrches and Shlohmo as well as Kutmah’s Brownswood compilation, his last two albums reveal a mature development as an artist, showcasing Groundislava’s unique sensibilities for sweeping soundscapes, luscious backdrops and somber tracks in a distinct sound all his own.

May 4 all-day

USC Events & Foundation Nightclub Present SUBstance Wednesdays: May The Fourth Be With You ft. WUKI

Constantly evolving, spawning new sub-genres, and reaching into uncharted depths of the frequency range; bass music has been ingrained in the Seattle scene for well over two decades. Join us every Wednesday as we fuse the sounds of Dubstep, Drum and Bass, Trap, Moombahton, Glitch Hop, Drumstep, and everything in between to write the next chapter in this region’s bass music saga. No frills, no fluff, just industry champions and dedicated locals pushing our sound system to its limits every week. This is SUBstance.

About Wuki:
soundcloud.com/IamWUKI

Wuki is the genre-blending solo project of Denver-based producer Kris Barman. Influenced by the sounds of Detroit ghettotech and Chicago footwork scenes, Barman’s ability to seamlessly mix booty, breaks, electro, and house into hard-hitting club-shakers has become a trademark of the Wuki sound. The Mile High City resident has earned releases and remixes for notable imprints such as OWSLA, Main Course, Fool’s Gold, and Ultra – not to mention support from the likes of Knife Party, Skrillex, and Rolling Stone Magazine.

Kenny Glasgow/STUDIO 4×4 at Q
May 5 all-day
Kenny Glasgow/STUDIO 4x4 at Q @ Q Nightclub | Seattle | Washington | United States

Q Nightclub presents Studio 4/4: From House to Progressive to Tech to Deep to Disco, this night is all about 4/4 dance music as interpreted and presented by members of Lost Boys, Decibel, Flammable, Inner Flight and Trashed. Every Thursday night at Q.

KENNY GLASGOW: Kenny Glasgow is a North American electronic music pioneer, a role he’s held for more than two decades. Though the Canadian star has spent the past 5 years as half of the acclaimed duo Art Department, functioning as a musical engineer, composer of both music and lyrics, and vocalist, he is now returning to his solo roots. Before he started touring the world, releasing influential full lengths, headlining huge festivals and gracing the cover of taste-making magazines, Kenny Glasgow already had a cult and loyal following dating back to the early ’90s. Glasgow first became immersed in the scene as a promoter, putting on illicit warehouse parties in his native Toronto before progressing to become resident at acid house mecca The Buzz and later the world famous Industry Nightclub. It was there that he picked up a sense of what worked dance floors, both in terms of DJing and production. Always putting these lessons to great use whether solo or with Art Department, his own emotive, tortured sounding and unique gravelly vocals have very much become his trademark.

Elliphant at Barboza
May 6 all-day
Elliphant at Barboza @ Barboza | Seattle | Washington | United States

Barboza presents Elliphant with Special Guests

“I’ve got four faces,” Elliphant declares. “One of them is the crazy club girl. Then, there’s my hip-hop side. I can also get all R&B on you. A lot of the time, I just feel like a hippie.” All four of those “faces” peek through the Swedish pop maverick’s second EP, One More [Kemosabe Records/Record Company TEN]. It’s a musical patchwork that’s as warm as it is wild. After the success of her first stateside EP, Look Like You Love It, Elliphant holed up in Los Angeles for the majority of 2014, locking herself in the studio and writing countless songs.

During the process, the girl legally known as Ellinor Olovsdotter experienced something of a revelation. “I want to be an artist that reflects reality in everything—good and bad,” she admits. “Life is always changing, and I want to be a reflection of what life is. You never have to choose black and white; you can stay in the grey zone. While you’re there, be experimental as long as you’re true to who you are. Music isn’t meant to be solid. It’s fluid. The music is a little more naked now. It really shows who I am.”

Maxx Destrukt, Fabulous & Harley/SFERA DI LUCE Fundraiser at Bootstrap Studios @ Bootstrap Studios | Seattle | Washington | United States

Sfera Di Luce is an interactive mobile art buckyball that will be on the move at Burning Man 2016 as well as other regionals such as Otherworld and Critical Northwest. Come support us in its creation. Learn more: sferadiluce.com

Music by:
Maxx Destrukt of BOOTIE: Maxx is well known in and out of the burner community for brining BOOTIE mashup beats to the Seattle masses

Fabulous: Tribal house techno funk swing and disco can all be heard in the same set with

Harley has been playing music at parties and clubs for the better part of a decade and likes to throw down some of the dirty funky every chance he gets.

In the spirit of great communal art we have a few other artists supporting us with their cool completed projects:
Monkey C Interactive (Victoria, BC) – Registroid. The Registroid is a mutant vintage cash register that is a playable, interactive electro-house looping machine that made its first appearance at Tedx Victoria in 2014.

-Adam Eliott and Davd Boon (Victoria, BC): Blox. Blox uses a set of one-way mirrors as well as LED panels to create a space which, inside, appears larger than on the outside. The user is encouraged to look at the piece from several angles to experience the space that is created inside. The objective is to create a visual space that can be controlled through control of lighting and use of mirrors to give the experience of a space who’s size is changing. Blox was the brain child of David Boon, and Adam Elliot trying to find new ways to change the experience of a mirror tunnel.

Iron Monkeys – A Fire Box by the Iron Monkeys because who doesn’t like fire? The Iron Monkeys are a blacksmithing and iron working art collective located in Georgetown at Equinox Studios. They believe art should bring people together and they utilize fire in their pieces to do just that.

-John Windberg – LED visual art! John is bringing his amazing LED walls for our visual delight, and if we’re lucky the hug deli as well.

Mercer at Foundation

Mercer at Foundation @ Foundation Nightclub | Seattle | Washington | United States

USC Events & Foundation Nightclub Present Resonate Fridays: Mercer

Fuzzyheaded and disheveled, you wake up the next morning with confetti in your pockets and scattered down your hallway. Yep! It’s the mark of Resonate Fridays at Foundation Nightclub. It comes down to one thing: EDM is the ultimate party music. High-energy beats combine with funk-fueled basslines to create the perfect soundtrack for an unforgettable night out. Join us each week for Resonate Fridays as we inject the newest Electro, Funky Breaks, Big Room House, and Bass Music to create an unrivaled party experience. Friday nights in Belltown are about to be turned up to 11, so prepare to walk away each week saying one thing: “Best. Night. Ever.”

About Mercer: There is a new generation of French DJs/Producers with international fame, Mercer is one of them. Hardwell first sensed a massive record in “Welcome to the Jungle” and signed it on his label. Track produced with ALVARO featuring Lil Jon, that reached a Top 3 on Beatport and had 3 million views on YouTube. Renowned Spinnin Records spotted the talent and released two tracks: “Supreme” and “Turn It Up”. Steve Aoki signed “Drop” straight away on DIM MAK, and the ball is rolling. Mercer has built up a proper image that suits him and obtains, in less than a year, full respect and support from Hardwell, Nicky Romero, ZEDD, David Guetta, Tommy Trash, Martin Garrix, Chuckie, Tiesto, Avicii, and Steve Angello, to name a few. You know the bet paid off when you get your tracks dropped in front of huge crowds in the middle of heavy sets at Ultra or Tomorrowland!

Riz at Rebar [OPEN TO CLOSE SET!]
May 6 all-day
Riz at Rebar [OPEN TO CLOSE SET!] @ Rebar | Seattle | Washington | United States

Hunt & Gather presents EPIC: Think about the last time you went out and heard something (or someone) new. When you were entranced, surprised, intrigued, delighted by what was coming out of the speakers. When you ditched the crowd at the bar and found a new one on the dancefloor. When you forgot what time it was, what year it was, when you stayed out later than you thought you would because you couldn’t bear to miss the next record, or the next few. The best DJs live and breathe music all day long, but you only get to hear them for an hour at a time. It’s time to change that. At Epic, it’s all headline. Every month, talented locals and visiting guests will take over the whole Re-Bar, for the whole night, so you can hear what they’re all about. Not just what they can find the time to play in a one-hour slot, but what they’d play for you and your friends in their living room. Not just the hits, but the inspiration behind them. Open to close sets are a true test of any DJ and a challenge that most live for. They are chance for the DJ to immerse the dance floor in the groove, shift the focus across the full experience and tell a complete story.

An open to close DJ Set from:

RIZ (KEXP, Expansions): “Origin Story: Growing up poor and black on the South Side of Chicago, where he lived for 25 years, Riz tried to reconcile living in a harsh world despite being born with an inner joy. “My genes are happy until I get fucked with,” he explains. He sang in the Operation Breadbasket choir as a boy and regularly got to hear Reverend Jesse Jackson teach and preach. During this time Riz’s powers of observation, energy cultivation and discernment began to take form. The first time he heard the song “Cold Sweat” things shifted permanently. “It was like hearing my name for the first time,” he says. “It was hard being a poor black child in Chicago. Music saved my life.” Riz went on to study religion and psychology in college. This is where he learned to pull energy from the sky and stars. Riz’s ability to draw power from the universe is the central component to his luminescent and sonic discombobulation. But the most important lesson he learned — and the key to his essence now — is that he is not afraid of failure. “By the time I was 30, I realized I was a failure,” he notes. “That was very liberating. That’s when the second part of my life began — I stopped having aspirations. I’m not good at aspirations but I’m really good with opportunity. I shine with opportunity.” Riz started deejaying at KEXP (90.3) and writing for The Stranger because “someone asked” and he said yes. “That’s the ticket,” he says: “Being asked and saying yes. I stopped saying no. I shed all my inhibitions that way.” Saying yes allowed the world’s energy to pulse through him; his ability to work with it fuels him.

May 7 all-day
*Pezzner, Kristina Childs, Nark, Karl K & Dot Diggler/SOFT OPTION at the Monkey Loft @ Monkey Loft | Seattle | Washington | United States

Soft Option showcases the best in Seattle’s musical talent and local flavor, and for De La Creme, it’s the right way to do things. We look forward to hosting you. Following our redonkulous Bling Party, May’s Soft Option is continuing the love and bringing you a SOLID GOLD lineup. We’re rocking the decks with Pezzner, Nark, Kristina Childs, Karl Kamakahi, and Dot Diggler (birthday set!). These masterful DJ’s will be crafting you a musical experience to move your body and expand your soul. See you on the dance floor, Fam.

DJs:

PEZZNER – Hunt & Gather: David Brian Pezzner was born in Tarzana, California in 1975 and currently lives in Seattle, Washington. He is 5 foot 7 inches in height and weighs about 165 lbs. Besides writing music for night clubs and headphones, Pezzner composes music for vision and function, and teaches electronic music writing concepts in his Seattle based studio. He sleeps exactly like any other man but, as you will no doubt have noticed, he is not an orthodox painter of the old school, but rather a modern artist. A designer of sound.

KRISTINA CHILDS – Plasmodium / KRAKT! / The Outer Limits: “I’m not the type to just sit there and listen, I want to be involved,” says Kristina Childs. “The first time I heard this music, I knew I wanted to play it.” Starting in 1999 with a mixture of house, techno and drum & bass, Childs quickly evolved her style into the eclectic mix of genres she still plays today. Never content to stay within the lines, her range of musical style has allowed her to share the stage with artists of many types, including Speedy J, Kevin Saunderson, Richard Devine, Akufen, Thomas Fehlmann, Christian Martin and Bassnectar. As well as being a guest DJ at many clubs in the Seattle area and nearly half of the US, Childs has held over 8 residencies and headlined events in Europe and South America. She’s had terrestrial radio airplay in Canada and Germany as well as the US, is the curator of Plasmodium, co-creator of KRAKT and as a founding director of Decibel Festival played an integral role in making it one of North America’s premier electronic music festivals. Her diligence in the Seattle scene made her a popular Northwest DJ, combining excellent track selection and mixing skill with her signature floor-filling sound and energetic performances. In 2007 she won the Battle of the Mega-Mixes competition, successfully defended her title in 2008, and in 2009 was invited to judge alongside Pezzner and DJ Introcut. Childs is a DJs DJ. She is known primarily for her techno sets, however you can hear her play everything from ambient to hip-hop, downtempo, electro, disco, breaks, new wave, funk or whatever else she feels like playing depending on the event. Childs was introduced to electronic music in 1995, but being involved in the punk scene, she remained a closet technohead until her first party in 1998. It was then she was introduced to deep house, and immediately knew this music would become a fundamental part of her life. It did, and within a year she was playing parties and after-hours around the Seattle area. Her debut release was 2004 in the form of a vocal appearance on Take’s Colossal Volume 1.

NARK – Bottom Forty: Nark (a.k.a. Kevin Kauer, Editor in Chief of Nark Magazine and Bottom Forty founder) has been exposing himself at parties around the nation, hip to hip with the finest musicians and record selectors around such as Bicep, In Flagranti, Jacques Renault, Tensnake, Honey Soundsystem, Prosumer, Tim Sweeney, Shit Robot, Horse Meat Disco, Moon Boots, Paul Johnson and many more. His constant drive to send a dance floor through space keeps a flowing stream of classic club, techno, acid and post-modern disco at your feet, just waiting to tango. Nark currently resides at The Eagle in Seattle throwing a kaleidoscope of events including Arf!, Shade and most famously Dickslap, a party that started as a political movement and has since turned into a traveling event, as well as running Bottom Forty, a Seattle collective of DJs, music sharing site, podcast and monthly event at Kremwerk. Currently he also curates an underground after hours referred to as the “Why,” and an annual pride festival weekend which attracts thousands and raises money for the LGBTQ community of Seattle. In the past Nark was the first resident and creative director of Q Nightclub in Seattle, working the countries 7th best soundsystem every Saturday night, and has been showcased by Decibel Festival, Honey Soundsystem, Flammable, Honcho, Beta Nightclub and many other above and underground events and festivals.

KARL KAMAKAHI – De La Creme Soundsystem: Karl Kamakahi is the founder of the De La Creme vision and has been Djing since 1989. He began experimenting with freestyle, transitioned into techno, and eventually felt the most at home with house music by 1992. Karl has lived and played all over the mid-west in places like Minneapolis, Denver, Fargo, Rapid City, Madison, St. Paul, and Bismarck. In Seattle, he has played at numerous venues such as the Monkey Loft, Electric Tea Garden, REBAR, The Last Supper Club, Crimson, Heavens, Trinity, Merchants Cafe, Docs Underground, See Sound Lounge, EMP, Chapel and Noir in Portland. He currently leads the way with local house talents during Soft Option at Monkey Loft, held on the 1st Saturdays in Seattle.

Blaqk Audio with Night Riots at the Crocodile @ The Crocodile | Seattle | Washington | United States

The Crocodile presents:

BLAQK AUDIO: Working from the dark electronic tones set free on AFI’s most recent records, Decemberunderground included, Havok and Puget fully indulge their inner eyeliner-wearing ’80s club kids here: ‘Stiff Kittens’ and ‘Where Would You Like Them Left?’ recall Depeche Mode at their most disturbing, while ‘Wake Up’ and ‘The Fear of Being Found’ tread more quietly but with no less determination. … Havok and Puget borrow from their forebears but inflate these tracks with their own odd brilliance (and flourishes, and beats). Fans of AFI, and anybody who never heard a blackish blast of modern electronic music they didn’t like, ought to investigate Cexcells.

USC Events & Foundation Nightclub Present SUBstance Wednesdays: Stööki Sound

Constantly evolving, spawning new sub-genres, and reaching into uncharted depths of the frequency range; bass music has been ingrained in the Seattle scene for well over two decades. Join us every Wednesday as we fuse the sounds of Dubstep, Drum and Bass, Trap, Moombahton, Glitch Hop, Drumstep, and everything in between to write the next chapter in this region’s bass music saga. No frills, no fluff, just industry champions and dedicated locals pushing our sound system to its limits every week. This is SUBstance.

About Stööki Sound: Stööki Sound is DJ Lukey and Jelacee. The London-based duo has made its career on pushing boundaries within the bass music scene by staying true to their love of UK Grime. Early on, they collaborated with like-minded producers like Mr.Carmack and Hucci to create “Uppers” and “Ball So Hard,” two of the most iconic songs in the Trap scene today. In the past year they have smashed through tours all over the world, satiating the needs of their worldwide fan base. They’ve gone from successful headlining runs in the U.S., to touring with Dillon Francis in the U.K. and selling out 100% of their shows in Australia. They are now setting their sights on a world tour in 2016. More focused than ever, nothing can stop the Stooki Movement.

Louis Futon at the Crocodile @ The Crocodile | Seattle | Washington | United States

Louis Futon: Hailing from Philadelphia, 23 year old Tyler Minford AKA Louis Futon has risen to prominence over the course of only two years. Heavily influenced by Hip-Hop, Louis Futon is the only producer ever to create official remixes for Logic, Mos Def, G-Eazy, Future, Wiz Khalifa, and more. Regardless of his influences, Louis rebelliously declares, “Genres don’t define me.” From creating Trap and Future Bass rooted originals to changing the very DNA of some of Hip-Hop’s biggest hits, Louis is able to defy boundaries. Typically consisting of bright melodies and rhythmic electro-tones carried by Hip-Hop drums, Louis Futon has keenly carved out a genre that ironically adheres to none.

SOMA DnB SESSIONS PRESENTS

KJ SAWKA [LIVE DRUM SET] Of Pendulum, Destroid & Impossible Records: Seeing Kevin Sawka on the drums is the only way to believe the hype. He can play the most complex of jungle, drum’n’bass and breakbeats utilizing no loops and no extended samples only his two hands and two feet. If you can catch him in the right moment live, at a show, or in a studio session you’ll witness him perform each and every 808 bass kick, snare slap, and compressed highhat tick himself, in real-time. “I’d like to be able to play like that all the time, however, live, I want to give the people the fully-produced, complex sound I’m envisioning, so I not only play the drums, but I manually trigger the basslines, melodies, riffs and now even the light show and projections with my drums so it’s a lot harder to focus on playing every single little single sound with my sticks. But it’s like I’m playing even more with my sticks lately, not less.”

USC Events & Foundation Nightclub Present Resonate Fridays: Gold Gone Wild Tour ft. Tommy Trash, A-Trak, Madeaux,& Nick Catchdubs

Night. Ever.”

DJs:

About Tommy Trash: Head banging, unmistakable locks at large and fist in the air, Tommy Trash is not your stereotypical dance music icon. Armed with an arsenal of his own carefully created anthems, he has rejected the clean-shaven no-nonsense image of many a peer. Tommy’s work hard play hard antics have carved him a unique position in a scene in desperate need of rebels. Outside his party-hard stage presence, the Grammy and VMA nominated producer’s approach to mind-blowing music remains as heartfelt as they come.

About A-Trak: At a time when the DJ sits firmly at the center of popular culture, A-Trak stands out as MVP, the key participant who holds together all facets of the craft. Very few share his mastery of turntablism while also sitting at the forefront of musical innovation, looking keenly to the future with history tucked in his back pocket. A true connector, Trizzy hops effortlessly from colossal festival stages to sold-out concert venues and sweaty underground clubs, building links between hip hop and electronic music while watching genre barriers crumble.

May 14 all-day
Vaski, Astronaut, VonHousin, Flave & more/BUBBLE BOBBLE at Studio 7 18+] @ Studio 7 | Seattle | Washington | United States

Marble Productions & Dubalicious present BUBBLE BOBBLE-11: Seattle’s favorite foam party is back or it’s 11th year!

Main Stage:

VASKI – MPLS, Minnesota: Influenced by his earlier genre interests like indie-rock, metalcore, and hip-hop (what most American teens were into at this time), Vaski recombines these to create a style that the press and general public has eaten up. He began as many EDM youths do, making bedroom beats and figuring out software DIY style. After gaining confidence with his tools and tracks, Vaski went looking for his break the old fashioned way. He was going to community college while working as a bank teller when he finally got a reply on MySpace from Rottun Records saying they wanted to release his work. Ever since then, he’s been either on the road or in the studio. Vaski initially found success in the dubstep world but his music has since evolved in a new exciting direction. In early 2014 he released “The Explorer”, a 5-track release on Smog Records. This release showed a major expansion in Vaski’s sound, mixing many genres into one action-packed release. Later that year he put out “Weightless”, an EP where he creates a new sound by doing his signature vocal editing on top of upbeat club rhythms. This release featured a video of the title track with over 1.5 million views, premiering as one of the first ever music videos of the youtube channel “The Sound You Need”. Throughout his career Vaski has had multiple #1’s in beatport dubstep, top 10’s on hypem, and been supported by countless blogs. 2015 has been a year of changes and Vaski is at the forefront of developments in the music industry. He is not playing it safe, he continues to develop in new directions and push the envelope. This year finds him dropping the massive collaboration with KSHMR, “Lazer Love” on spinnin records, and showcasing his new sound for the coming year in his track titled “Can You Feel It”. Vaski’s main objective is to make people move. He has recently incited crowds across three continents and nearly a dozen countries to lose control and dance their brains out . As a DJ, 2016 finds the artist touring Australia and New Zealand again, as well as many shows across North America. For a firsthand experience of this talented young voice, keep an eye on his website www.vaskimusic.com and his Facebook page, for info on releases and tour dates.

ASTRONAUT – United Kingdom/ Los Angles, CA: Astronaut are a producer duo from Bristol (UK), whose talent for creating incredibly addictive melodies alongside savage basslines has seen them recognized as one of the most exciting emerging talents in the electronic music world. They announced themselves in style with the release of ‘Apollo’, which gained massive support and has since amassed over a million plays on YouTube, Spotify and SoundCloud. To date, they have remixed for some of the biggest names around, including Excision, Zomboy, TC, Pegboard Nerds and have recently collaborated with the likes of Far Too Loud, Black Tiger Sex Machine, Barely Alive and Dodge & Fuski. The duo hold themselves to a very high standard in everything they do, something that is evident from their impressive on-going animated video series that accompanies their releases and has garnered them a lot of attention. Astronaut have shown their versatility and talent by proving themselves across many of the electronic music genres. Their efforts have been recognized and celebrated by their peers, and have received DJ support from Zomboy, Project 46, Dyro, DVBBS, Henry Fong, Krewella, Lets Be Friends and Far Too Loud to name a few. No strangers to the spotlight, they are often featured on the biggest blogs around, either giving advice to upcoming producers or showcasing a new track. Major music platforms such as, UKF, This Song Is Sick, EDM.com, Kannibalen radio and Dancing Astronaut have all taken a keen interest in the rise of Astronaut. They have also been shown radio support from Capital FM, Kiss FM, Mistajam, Skream & Benga, but most recently an exclusive mix for the infamous BBC Radio 1.Currently living in LA, Astronaut are keen to expand their presence worldwide and will be playing in a city near you soon.

Worthy/WORK at Kremwerk
May 14 all-day
Worthy/WORK at Kremwerk @ Kremwerk | Seattle | Washington | United States

Hey Hey Hey. More Dirtybird action comin at cha from the WORK! camp. Last year we brought you Mark Starr which ended up being one of our craziest party’s. This year we are steppin it up and bringing you one of the original Dirtybird members, WORTHY !! We are super excited to be bringing in the SORUSTY crew for additional help with promo and to basically do what they do. They are a fabulous up and coming outfit and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have them on board for this show.

WORTHY: When it comes down to all the hype, his name says it all. He is Worthy. With an in-depth knowledge of production, mixing, and performance, Worthy has the insight to play for his audience, cultivating intense positive energy on the dance floor. From salty aired islands to dark club basements, over the past 10 years, Worthy has paid reverence to the traditional form of classic house while tripping off the mark and sinking into the euphoric less-charted territories of booty-clapping bass. As Carl Cox said, “The Worthy sound has always been powerful, rocking, funky, bass-driven music at its best, and for me this is the new wave in house music.” He establishes an energetic dance floor camaraderie that makes even the most skeptic hater’s booty shake.

Growing up in Washington DC, Worthy was inspired by the early American rave scene. Upon moving to New York in the late 90’s, he was exposed to artists like LTJ Bukem and Stacey Pullen whose music inspired him to play records across multiple genres, from techno and breaks to hiphop and drum n’ bass. In 2001 he swapped coastlines, moving to San Francisco to pursue his music career. There he teamed up with Claude Von Stroke and Justin and Christian Martin, becoming one of the four founding fathers of the Dirtybird party, Worthy’s breakout track, Irst Te, released on the Dirtybird label in 2007, quickly established his notoriety as a producer. With other bangers like Shy Look, Tric Trac (co-produced with Eats Everything) and the recently release track, Dip, Worthy has been rocking the “Dirtybird” sound for nearly a decade now. Concurrently, Worthy has established his own label, Anabatic Records, which has allowed him to be a bit more experimental with his production, and expand his reach as an artist. Some of the songs that have charted on sites such as Beatport include Concubia, Work The Walls, and Flashin.

In 2014 Worthy released his debut full-length album, Disbehave, a genre-defying rebellion against the house producers status quo. Breaking down rules and boundaries, Worthy has sought to set himself apart from the mundane world of expectation, striking out to release something unexpected. Disbehave was accepted with critical acclaim and received notable press attention. Early Spring 2015, Worthy will release a two part remix album of Disbehave with artists including Thugfucker, Stanton Warriors, Yolanda be Cool, Matt Tolfrey, and a slough of other amazing producers. He is also back with another Dirtybird release called “So Delicious”, among other tracks that will be due out later this year.

As the sun peaks out from behind the clouds and the sweet promise of summer looms, our favorite DIY patio party returns to the streets of Fremont for another season. This summer, we return with more good music, good vibes and…..cheap drinks.

Kicking off our second season is the one and only Palms Trax. This kid has been on fire these past few years, from his inaugural release for the esteemed imprint Lobster Theremin, to both playing the Dekmantel festival and releasing a pair of 12″s on their label. On top of all of this, Grounded is committed to keeping ADR a FREE PARTY. That’s right, you get to enjoy the selections of a world class house selector for $Free.99. However, while this party is free for you, it is not free for us. We will gladly accept any donations you might be willing to give at the door. About Dieselboy:
soundcloud.com/dieselboy

At a time when headline “DJs” shamelessly play pre-programmed – even pre-recorded – sets and the masses mindlessly embrace the charade, Dieselboy – The Destroyer – stands out as a rare virtuoso of the art and craft of live DJing. His complex, high voltage, take-no-prisoners sets have created legions of loyal die-hard fans around the world. Arguably no other DJ mixes live – on four decks – with more precision, imagination, intensity, energy and finesse. In the history of electronic dance music, no one comes even close to matching his legacy of epic dramatic mixes, each a timeless star in his signature constellation. Dieselboy – one of the world’s finest technical DJs – has, in fact, elevated the themed DJ mix to the realm of fine art.

About Downlink:
soundcloud.com/downlink

A name firmly cemented in the hearts and minds of the bass music community. He is respected the world over as a producer of the highest quality dance floor bangers. He has had numerous #1 hits on Beatport and has released music with major labels like Rottun, OWSLA and Mau5trap. He has helped mix an album for the legendary nu-metal band Korn. He has toured the planet far and wide, leaving a wake of awe-struck audiences in his path. To see him live is to witness one of the tightest technical DJ’s in the game. His 4 deck live mixing and infectious stage energy light up venues turning crowds on their heads time after time. Expect lightning fast mixing on a journey through a wide variety of bass music. All tempos are fair game as long as its underground vibes and dirty bass. 2013 was a huge year for Downlink. Along with homies Excision and KJ Sawka, he gave rise to bass music supergroup Destroid, a whole different kind of live experience altogether. You really have to see it live to fully grasp the scope and intensity of the show. Also in 2013, Downlink launched his brand new record label, Uplink Audio. This will be a place where he will showcase his own music as well as a wide variety of other high grade material. Downlink is not one to be pigeon-holed and is constantly on a quest to evolve and refine his sound. With this in mind, one thing will always remain constant – a pure unadulterated heavy listening experience…

OMW & CUSTOMS present

CELESTIAL TRAX (Rinse.FM): Brooklyn, New York, based Celestial Trax has honed a beautiful and cryptic sound, where melodies wrap like blown glass around a skeleton of diamond-hard drums and sub-bass. His recent Vaxxilate EP [Rinse] nods towards the dance floor while simultaneously inviting a retreat into the self-contained space of headphones. His unique sound can recall a haunted spectral electronic beauty, charged with minimalist grime and the substantial sound system rattling bass.

If you aren’t familiar with Shomari (aka Sho Nuph) please read the following… “I am a DJ, a dancer, a musician, a creative person and all around huggable teddy bear. I have been dealing with End-Stage Renal disease for almost the past decade. To give you some perspective, this is the last stage of chronic kidney disease. This occurs when the kidneys can no longer support your body’s needs. This disease comes with an incredible amount of pain, emotionally, physically and mentally but it is often oversimplified. How I learned about my eligibility by receiving a letter in the mail, which came just after New Years. Before I opened the letter I thought it was just another bill. When I actually read the contents of the letter, I screamed with joy and shared the good news with my Mother. I then went to work to go through the series of tests that I needed to go through to move forward with the transplant. My surgery is tentatively planned June 25th 2016. However, it may happen sooner if my condition changes.

Going through kidney failure has completely changed my life. Who I am, who I want to be, and goals I’ve wanted to accomplish. This situation has taken away my creativity and my overall happiness of my well-being. However, I still smile because of what I have learned about myself while dealing with this element of my life. I’m asking for assistance because my insurance is only going to cover so much. I have the recovery time off, but unfortunately will not be paid. The donations collected here will help pay for pre-treatments, post treatments, medications, appointment copays, after care expenses, and towards my household bills during my recovery period since I won’t be able to work. Having the chance to live a fulfilling 40+ years and the opportunity to be fully committed to my friends, family and my dynamic community I am involved with means everything to me. The core of my artistic expression, be it dancing. DJ’ing, or Jewelry Design will be more fruitful than ever. I will finally be able give 100% to all my passions. Every donation is greatly appreciated and will not be over looked. Thank you so MUCH!” – Sho

Gaudi with Willdabeast & Acorn Project at Nectar @ Nectar | Seattle | Washington | United States

Nectar, The PBJ & SolidSound present GAUDI

A global favorite in the electronica and dub reggae music scenes, UK based producer GAUDI keeps his ever-growing fan base returning to the dance floor with his infectious bass-driven tunes and innovative live performances. Honoring the traditions of old school dub by performing on stage without a computer, GAUDI’s incredible sonic manipulations are interwoven with live Theremin, Moog, Vocoder, Tape Echoes, Percussion and live vocals from his partner in rhyme and beatboxer extraordinaire, Danny Ladwa – all of which makes for a one-of-a-kind experience not to be missed.

Gaudi’s eclectic style and versatility has kept him at the forefront of his field throughout a noteable and prolific career. His music, which is an organic fusion of dub, world and nu-beat, is in production, on the playlists and regularly being performed live in the UK and internationally. Gaudi’s innovative approach to live performance and versatility as a producer has kept him at the forefront of his field throughout a notable and prolific career. His music is stylistically hard to pin down as he is an artist in constant evolution. His musical exploration, over the last 30 years in the industry, has however seen him foray into punk, new wave, dub and reggae, world, experimental electronica and ‘stuff that rocks dancefloors’.. he has however got deep roots, which run like a vein throughout his music, and they are in the big basslines and spacious soundscapes of dub and the anarchic sonic potential of the world of electronic music… where anything’s possible.

About Jack Beats:
soundcloud.com/jack-beats
owsla.com/artist/jack-beats/

The brainchild of Beni G (Mixologists) and Plus One (Scratch Perverts), a production duo from London, UK who are not only veterans of the music scene but also multiple DJ champions, and award winning DJs. Jack Beats represents everything you love about the new wave of British house music. Wobbly basslines, big breakdowns and edgy accapella’s. While Jack Beats’ sound is hard to pin down, it is one that was initially heavily influenced by their hometown of London. The duo’s output is a reflection of their love of hybrid music, and wide-ranging influences from hip-hop to house to drum ‘n’ bass; it is this dedication to hybrid music that has helped Jack Beats’ sound to translate so successfully internationally. Inspired by a hip-hop ethos, the duo’s music is defined by a constant striving to do something different and to reinvent their sound. Over the past few years, Jack Beats have managed to amass a dedicated international following of their thunderous bass-heavy approach to house music, aided by a string of monstrous remixes for the likes of Beyonce, Major Lazer, Florence & The Machine, Diplo and Rudimental. Renowned as world-class DJs, Jack Beats have graced many of the world’s most important DJ booths and festivals including Coachella, Fuji Rocks, Glastonbury, EDC and Sonar, as well as having released on labels such as OWSLA, Rinse, Nightbass and Columbia.

Blankface/SEATTLE SUBS SESSIONS at Contour @ Contour | Seattle | Washington | United States

Seattle Sub Sessions is excited to bring you another night of great music and great people. This month we are proud to bring you:

Blankface (Arcane, Savage Society): Salar Saeidi, a California native known by his better name of Blankface, has been running through the bass scene with his articulate sound since he began producing in late 2009. In 2013, Blankface and MAZE, Arthur Darbinyan, founded their label, Savage Society, an artist collective of young, divergent producers that are making heads turn within the bass community with their eminently dynamic sound. Currently residing in Orange County, California, Blankface has been up to no good, plotting his most vicious attack on the bass scene, producing some of the most savage dubstep bass culture has ever heard. The 23-year-old gathers inspiration from artists, such as Coki, Jakes, Subfiltronik, and Kromestar, and utilizes his own skills and creative mind as his weapon of choice to muster an influential onslaught of tracks that riddle and inject shock stricken bodies with sub-bass. With support from 12th Planet, Cotti, Bukez Finezt, Shiverz, & many more, everyone will undoubtedly want to keep an eye, or an ear, out for this young and talented innovative producer

DJ Dan with Spaceotter, BuckMode & Robinson/HIDE OUT at Substation
May 21 all-day
DJ Dan with Spaceotter, BuckMode & Robinson/HIDE OUT at Substation @ Substation | Seattle | Washington | United States

Last month’s 10th edition of The Hide Out with Julie Herrera, and Hyasynth was dope, to say the least. Those two ladies really know how to bring the heat when it comes to keeping a floor rocking steady until close. Again, we tip our hats to two of Seattle’s most cherished djs. Thank you, Julie & Karen! With taking April off to work with a local fundraiser, and to get in some family time, we decided to do something special for May and our 11th edition of The Hide Out……………

DJ DAN: Through the years, DJ Dan has proven time and time again to be one of the true leaders in house music. DJ Mag named DJ Dan the #1 House DJ in 2006 while Urb Magazine named him “America’s Favorite DJ” and “America’s Hardest Working DJ” while he was also DJ Time’s ‘America’s Best DJ’ 2014 Top Ten Finalist. The media has never been more accurate. And if there is any marker that 2015 is geared to be another fantastic year for the LA based artist, we take note from the fact that Dan was rated at #5 of the top House artists by Beatport tracker. As this dance music world continues to evolve, it is safe to say that DJ Dan will continue to be one of its strongest voices and most powerful influencers. And now, Dan has taken the opportunity to pay homage to all of these years of funk and disco, he and his label InStereo Recordings have compiled The Remix Collection featuring 21 of Dan’s best remixes from his career including a brand new remix of the infamous ‘Loose Caboose’ single that has carried infinite significance in his career. This collection is also a tip of the hat to much of his inspirations in his music such as boogie legends Raw Silk, Instant Funk, and First Choice; all of which were remixes on Ultra and originally part of the acclaimed Westend and Salsoul disco catalogs. For any dance music aficionado, this compilation album is a must have.

Local Support from….

JAYSON SPACEOTTER (Bottom Forty, Now Serving): Lifelong musician turned DJ in 2007, focusing on house, techno and various electronic dance music. Jayson is no stranger to Seattle’s underground music scene! He can be found playing all across the city, and also co-hosting the NOW SERVING radio show, along with Almond Brown. Spaceotter’s style is eclectic, well thought out, and he has the ability to take listeners through borderless space and time with his sound. His mission is to give “love and music”, and we’d say he’s pretty damn successful! Not to mention, this man has a heart of gold, AND one of the best fucking beards in the emerald city!

TOR DIETRICHSON (Live on percussion): We are excited to welcome back the extraordinary percussionist!!! His fluid playing capabilities on the drums are truly impressive, as he embellishes our dj’s set with the upmost subtlety, and skill. A true crowd favorite!

BUCKMODE: Brennan has been blazing a great path over the last couple of years. He is quickly becoming a household name, and his sound always has the dance floor bouncing! B’s latest mix is textured, groovy and can be heard here…..

ROBINSON: Versatile, and eclectic, he takes listeners on a journey infusing a message in his sets. His latest mix touches on a variety of genres ranging from funk, disco, deep, and tech. Robinson’s sets can be heard here…

Moderat & Telefon Tel Aviv at the Showbox Market @ Showbox Market | Seattle | Washington | United States

Moderat
moderat.fm

Intent on creating something that contrasts their own individual projects, Moderat — the trio comprised of Gernot Bronsert, Sebastian Szary (aka Modeselektor) and Sascha Ring (aka Apparat) — complete their trilogy with III. III pairs an emotional pull with sensual imagery, creating dynamic sound and depth with sophisticated lyrics and themes as they direct their gaze inward. Apparat gives unfiltered insight into his personal take on the journey we call life – he is opening up, discussing his shadow, his fears and doubts. Modeselektor reach another level, developing an intoxicating energy with their distinct rhythmical textures.

One of the strongest aspects of Moderat is their use of electronics to achieve orchestral diversity. With III, they update the songwriting tradition with an intriguing palette, born of careful attention and skill, informed by their experiences with sounds of nearly 25 years of sub-and-club culture. These three were initially brought together by Berlin’s now legendary rave scene and with this as their common foundation, III signifies Moderat’s maturation in modern pop and mastery of the group. Moderat’s III is out April 1st on Mute/Monkeytown. The trio will take their impressive live show all over Europe and North America in support of this release.

Kaytranada at the Showbox Market
May 28 all-day
Kaytranada at the Showbox Market @ Showbox Market | Seattle | Washington | United States

Showbox presents:

Kaytranada: Born in Haiti and raised in the city of Montreal, Canadian artist Kaytranada has experienced an explosive rise in the past couple of years with his irresistible production and live sets, but the hard work and success did not happen over night. Before touring the globe and amassing millions of hits online with his series of beloved tracks and mixes, the young man came up as a true disciple, absorbing hip hop and RnB culture since his childhood and finding ways to make the music his own.

Since the age of fourteen, when he first began to DJ and the following year when his brother introduced him to music production software, his output has been relentless. As he explains, “after he showed me the basics, from that day on I couldn’t stop making beats,” pumping out a beat a day for the next couple of years and soon after self-releasing a series of EPs and beat tapes that quickly began to expand his reach. Official releases on HW&W and Jakarta Records soon spread his name like wildfire and some instant-classic remixes by the likes of Missy Elliot, Janet Jackson, TLC, Danny Brown and others have cemented his reputation and his sound; an undeniable swing of the drums comparable to Dilla’s, a signature soulful touch in the melodies, and a healthy dose of funky bass lines.

In the past year, he was approached by Brodinski to drop the single “Free Things In Life” on the hotly-tipped French label Bromance, has headlined tours in Europe, Australia and North America, and released his newest single and video “At All” which has already conquered dance floors worldwide and introduced his face to the world with an unforgettable video. Now, as he continues to bridge the gap between the dance world and hip hop/RnB, he is prepping a solo album for 2014 and a series of high profile collaborations that will confirm his position as one of the most important producers in today’s musical landscape.

Vicetone with Jenaux at Foundation @ Foundation Nightclub | Seattle | Washington | United States

USC Events & Foundation Nightclub Present Progression Saturdays: Vicetone & Jenaux

Progression is change. Progression is Different. Progression is the forward evolution of music.

About Vicetone: As childhood friends, Ruben and Victor had lofty dreams of playing music to crowds of thousands of people chanting to their songs. Hours away from the nearest nightclub in Amsterdam and with nothing more than a small home studio in rural Netherlands, the duo set out on their goal – crafting a harmonic, melody driven, Big Room sound that is as easy to listen to in your home as it is on the dance floor.

About Jenaux: “If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere,” sang Frank Sinatra about New York City, a town littered with hyper-competitive creators and the most fastidious consumers of culture. Indeed, New York City is where people come to be the best at their craft. It is here, where another New Jersey native, has crossed the Hudson, honed his artistry, and become enmeshed in the musical fabric of New York. Twenty-three year old Jenaux (Eugene Veltman) has been composing, producing, and performing electronic dance music for six years. His hard work and talent have made him a mainstay in New York’s hottest nightclubs. At a time when electronic dance music is exploding on a global level, two of the genre’s most beloved clubs, Pacha and Finale, have named Jenaux a resident DJ, as they know he can stand beside icons and thoroughly entertain their dance-thirsty crowds.

Lee Reynolds/SHAMELESS ROOFTOP PARTY at the Monkey Loft
May 30 @ 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm
Lee Reynolds/SHAMELESS ROOFTOP PARTY at the Monkey Loft @ Monkey Loft | Seattle | Washington | United States

Time to kick on another rooftop season at the Monkey Loft! This year for Memorial Day we’ve invited back our good friend Lee Reynolds from Desert Hearts for a three hour set. Plus, Yo Yo Yoga is back on the deck at noon to start this party out right. Stretch then dance! Advance ticket information for each event is coming soon. Shameless presents 2nd Annual Memorial Day Hijinks, An afternoon rooftop party!

Lee Reynolds (Desert Hearts, LA): Originally from England, Lee Reynolds moved to California in 1988 to ride BMX bikes. After numerous injuries he switched his focus from one pair of wheels to another, and started DJing in ‘92, quickly beginning to throw parties in the San Diego area, and focusing on the ambient and psychedelic sounds of the time.. an influence that will always remain. Not content with just chillin’ out the newly dubbed ‘Dr.Indulgent’ began to explore the more leftfield areas of dance music, collecting weird records on frequent trips back to London, playing gigs up and down the West Coast, and appearing on early internet radio shows such as Groovetech. Fast forward to 2014 and Lee is heavily involved in the Southern California tech/house movement, co-hosting the popular Desert Hearts, Tropical Hearts, Moonshake & Tribalove parties, playing at the legendary Moontribe and Lightning in a Bottle events, and often DJing south of the border. With over 20 years of experience under his belt Lee has never had more fun DJing!!!

Neumos presents OPIUO – Omniversal LIVE tour!

For New Zealand native Opiuo, making music has been an undeniable passion that encapsulates his every moment. His incredibly original, against the grain style is often referred to simply as “funkadelic bass music”, a term he supports wholeheartedly. The producer who now calls Australia home first gained international recognition in 2010 with his single “Robo Booty” from his debut album “Slurp and Giggle”, which was a finalist for Best Dance/Electro Release at the Australian Independent Music Awards that year. His music has since reached the #1 position on the iTunes, Hype Machine, Beatport & Addictech charts. Racking up 5 million plays on his Soundcloud page, Opiuo swept the 2013 UK Glitch-Hop Awards with 5 wins. His latest full-length album “Meraki” was a finalist for the Best Electronica Album at the New Zealand Music Awards 2014.

USC Events & Foundation Nightclub Present SUBstance Wednesdays: TWRK

Constantly evolving, spawning new sub-genres, and reaching into uncharted depths of the frequency range; bass music has been ingrained in the Seattle scene for well over two decades. Join us every Wednesday as we fuse the sounds of Dubstep, Drum and Bass, Trap, Moombahton, Glitch Hop, Drumstep, and everything in between to write the next chapter in this region’s bass music saga. No frills, no fluff, just industry champions and dedicated locals pushing our sound system to its limits every week. This is SUBstance.

About TWRK: The kings of the mid tempo jams, T W R K, were a mystery before Diplo outed their true identities on-air during their first Diplo & Friends show on BBC Radio 1xtra. The duo of Benzi and Esentrik hit the scene crushing dance floors from strip clubs, to frat houses, to the main stages of festivals by cranking out dance floor massives, including their global break out “BaDinga” (even Skrillex has his own dance to this one!). Their signature sound has everyone knocking down their door for remixes including Major Lazer, Jason Derulo, Naughty Boy & Wiz Kalifa, A-Trak’s project Low Pros, and even Diplo himself who’s “Biggie Bounce” (TWRK Remix) popped up in the Hollywood blockbuster “Lets Be Cops”.

THE MAGICIAN: One night not so long ago, The Magician – the alias of talented DJ/Producer Stephen Fasano – appeared from a place between space and time. Apparently he materialized in a cloud of crystal stars and soft pink smoke. Some claim he’s a former airline pilot who crashed an afterparty – some say it’s all just an illusion, a well-performed hoax. Previously a member of Aeroplane, Fasano disembarked that flight and boarded his own magical carpet ride in 2010. Fasano finally struck gold with his re-work of Lykke Li’s “I Follow Rivers” in 2011 and Clean Bandit’s “Rather Be” in 2014. The Magician hit new heights with his massive summer 2014 smash “Sunlight” featuring the vocals of Olly Alexander from Years & Years.

From the success of “DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince” with partner Will Smith, to the critical acclaim of his production company “A Touch of Jazz”, Jeff proved time and time again that he would always be a force to be reckoned with. And he continues to represent with his solo projects, collaborations, mixtapes and live shows. His love of music shines through in everything he does. Over the course of his career, DJ Jazzy Jeff has achieved many accomplishments including a DMC Championship and multiple GRAMMY and American Music Awards and nominations.
