Seven Lions: Melding mainstream pop, trance, and dubstep, California producer Jeff Montalvo quickly amassed a cult following under the alias Seven Lions, which issued the debut EP Days to Come in 2012. He made his Billboard 200 debut with third EP Worlds Apart in 2014. After follow-up EPs like 2015’s The Throes of Winter and 2017’s dance chart-topping Creation reflected a growing emphasis on song form, he landed just outside of the dance/electronic Top Ten with 2019’s “Need Your Love,” a collaboration with Gryffin and singer/songwriter Noah Kahan. A decade into his recording career, he presented his first official album-length release, Beyond the Veil, in 2022. The onetime drummer transitioned to music production in 2007, and shortly thereafter he won a competition held by the trance act Above & Beyond by remixing their song “You Got to Go.” Success snowballed. At 25 years old, Montalvo’s debut EP, Days to Come, was mentioned on Vibe’s Top Electronic Albums list of 2012, and later that year he gained attention internationally when his music picked up regular rotation on BBC’s Radio 1. A second EP, Polarize, was released by Viper Recordings in April 2013. He moved to the Casablanca label, and a year later, the Worlds Apart EP hit number two on the Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart, also entering the Billboard 200. Continuing a slowly growing emphasis on song form, The Throes of Winter returned him to both charts in 2015 and topped the Heatseekers Albums chart. In 2017, the Creation EP became his first Billboard dance/electronic number one. The following year, Seven Lions launched his own Ophelia record label, marking the occasion with the single “Calling You Home.”
Gem & Tauri: Lovers of all House music, Courtney Simmons and Emma Montalvo under the alias Gem & Tauri have been involved in the EDM scene for over 10 years attending & working events and gaining a love for the house & techno genre. They have played underground events as well as supporting acts for Ophelia Showcases at Echostage, Avant Gardner, Mezzanine SF and Miami Music Week. In 2020 the two began live streaming and played a set on every episode of Seven Lions’ Visions as well as appearances on Anjuna, DeepState, Gabriel & Dresden, Jason Ross’ Atlas, Dirtybird and many others. In July 2020 the duo appeared on a live stream from the Gorge hosted by Insomniac. Gem & Tauri, originally a DJ duo, partnered with Seven Lions to begin creating music of their own. Under the wing of the musical legend, they went to work on an EP to bring beautiful melodic vocals with groovy bass lines and feel good sounds. All You Need is the first melodic house EP to release on Ophelia Records. The EP features vocalists Haliene, Fiora & Jared Lee as well as an instrumental track. Their chemistry on the decks has been well received by new fans. Their extensive touring knowledge and festival presence allows them to bring a fresh sound with familiar faces. This year promises more amazing sets, collaborations and live events.
Jason Ross (trance set): Jason Ross is one of dance music’s premier acts, while simultaneously being one of the scene’s more elusive figureheads. That’s not due to any fault of his productions, but rather, purely due to his versatility. Once a mainstay on the legendary Anjunabeats and a rising star of new age trance shepherded by Above & Beyond and co, Jason quickly outgrew the boundaries of four to the floor grooves, expanding into the less finite space of broken beats and pop vocals of melodic bass. A blossoming working relationship with melodic bass propagator Seven Lions led to genre defining tracks like Higher Love and Ocean, backed up by beautiful, elongated and gently weaving trance discography featuring the likes of Cairo, Atlas, and his 2019 Anjunabeats EP Rooms. The ability to weave the emotion and hypnosis of trance into the more commercial grit of melodic bass has made Jason’s recent catalog uniquely his own. His unique multi-genre tinged approach to production shines on genre-defining tracks like Shelter, his Blanke collab One More Day, his solo single Wild Ones, and his Gryffin collab After You, among others.
