Hunt & Gather: Summer Diversion
The Hunt & Gather Summer Diversion is back! We’re celebrating the return of warm summer nights at Monkey Loft with 6 hours of love and revelry featuring Canada’s house and techno paragon Esette but also Doza , Eliogold, and Party Bison.
Esette aka Isis Graham is one of the hardest-working, most beloved members of the electronic music community in Canada and she happens to be one of our favorite DJs. This is going to be a very special night. Grab your friends and come party with us. Snag tickets and beat the line. See you there!
Esette (aka Isis Graham): Notoriously resilient and innovative, Esette’s unyielding work ethic, paired with over twenty years of music industry experience, have made her a household name in Western Canada’s electronic music community. Graham first began throwing raves in 1998, in the halcyon days of Calgary’s renegade party scene, with events drawing as many as 1600 people. She began DJing in 1999 and after local laws brought about the end of raves the following year she brought her sounds to some of the most notable notable Western Canadian venues of the last two decades, as well as festivals like Bass Coast, WMC, Decibel, Think! Festival, Shambhala and ADE.
Since 2007, Graham has developed her catalog as a producer with 30-plus releases which have received support from artists like Maceo Plex, Seth Troxler, Jamie Jones, DJ Heather, Doza, Pezzner, Fred Everything, Giom, Luke McKeehan, Animal Trainer, and Vanilla Ace. From 2013-2018 she worked as A/R with the Canadian label Substation Recordings. In 2003 Graham co-founded Girls On Decks, a group dedicated to increasing the visibility of female & non binary DJs in dance music. With that group, Graham showed her ability to incite critical change by giving women DJs a platform to develop, an initiative that still remains today.
Graham is a co-founder of the Alberta Electronic Music Conference, a boutique gathering of electronic music masterminds and up-and-comers, as well as Calgary’s first producer-based listening event series Studio Social connecting producers outside of the studio space to foster collaboration and social awareness. Esette’s knack for launching boundary-breaking initiatives and movements bleeds into her identity as a performer. Ever-changing and effervescent, her multifaceted approach and raw passion are contagious, a testament to the tenacity and zest she wishes to share with those around her.
