Jade Cicada is an electronic producer and artist on the rise, creating his own unique universe through dynamic and psychedelic soundscapes and visuals. East Coast native Jade Cicada, born Skyler Alecson, blends his influences of the unconventional grooves of ‘90s hip-hop pioneers and sound architects of the left-field bass music scene, creating a one-of-a-kind sound and experience that has transfixed a new generation of electronic music fans.
In 2015, Jade Cicada received his big break when he was recognized by Tipper, a legend in the trip-hop and experimental bass music scene. Going from a longtime fan to opening at Tipper’s Tipper & Friends Festival in Florida put him on the map and inspired the release of his first EP the following year. Jade Cicada is glitchy trip hop – sometimes downtempo and ambient, and other times whomping and bass-heavy – and always experimental. His music is rooted in a love of pioneers of ‘90s hip-hop, inspired by names like MF DOOM, J Dilla, and Madlib.
Welcoming 2025, Jade Cicada released his four-track Lunar Fade EP on January 10th, signaling a new era for his sound and technical prowess. Having sold out Mission Ballroom in Denver, Colorado, and headlined festivals such as Secret Dreams and Evolutions, Jade Cicada begins 2025 with his Break the Hold North American tour and performances at Lightning in a Bottle and Electric Forest, with more exciting plans ahead.
