Parker Mills, Essex, Robin Burrowes & Ben Meadow
Slushie Disco is a daytime disco and balearic party happening monthly this summer on the patio at Substation. Join us under the sun or under an umbrella for some amazingly curated chill yet dancey vibes accompanied by frozen adult beverages. The first edition features guest DJs Parker Mills and Essex along with residents Robin Burrowes and Ben Meadow.
Parker Mills (Give n’ Groove, Makes Me Human): Founder of Give’nGroove, a charity dance series that combines community, philanthropy, and music to raise awareness and donations to Youth Services organizations
Essex: Currently based in Seattle, DJ Essex has ignited dance floors from San Francisco, to Oakland, New York, Paris, his hometown of Detroit, and more. His energetic sets can range from Disco, Hip-Hop, House, Dancehall, Reggaeton, Afrobeats, and everything in between. Essex likes to get around, but most often you can find him spinning at Supernova on a Saturday night.
Robin Burrowes: Robin started DJing in late 80s at the time that Acid House transformed the world of dance music. He played in Glasgow 88-99, Fever at Fury Murry’s, Tin Pan Alley, The Choice, The Apartment and Rhapsody. He then played in Austraila from late 91 to late 92, mostly in Sydney during the warehouse party explosion. Played frequently at Bondi Hotel, Mars, Freezer, Bentley Bar and several huge dance parties. Bondi Beach on Xmas Day 1991 will always be the one defining moment for him. In ’99 he moved to London and started a residency at N20 in Soho, followed with long stints at Medicine Bar, The Retreat and The Light Bar. One-offs at Renaissance, Gatecrasher and Funkshoppe Boat Parties were epic. In the early 2000s he played regularly in Malaysia and around Europe most frequently Finland and Estonia 2003-2008. In 2013, he moved to Seattle and in 2019 started playing again. He’s currently a resident at the amazing Stayin’ Alive nights at Supernova. In 2020 he also headed back to Sydney in Feb to play the legendary Up for It! party.
Ben Meadow: Lover of electronic music under 120bpm and inventor of Slushie Disco. He’s beyond excited to be bringing this concept to the public.
