A message from Sean Horton, Decibel Festival founder & curator:
As we enter into our 12th Decibel Festival edition, it is abundantly clear that the electronic music community has undergone substantial growth in recent years. When I founded Decibel in 2003, we were one of only a dozen electronic music festivals taking place across North American. Today, we are one of over a hundred, including six happening the same weekend as Decibel in the United States alone. Over that span, I’m proud to report that Decibel’s commitment to casting light on underground electronic music in all its forms has never wavered. Over the past 12 years, we’ve hosted a staggering 1,100 unique performers, 35% of whom had never performed in the Pacific Northwest prior to Decibel. This year, we continue that tradition more than ever with a program stacked with underground electronic artists from across the globe (94 performers representing 14 countries, performing at 28 unique audio/visual showcases, spanning 10 venues ranging from dinner theaters, to parks, to clubs, to boat parties).
